We would like to invite you to a Parent Preview Night of the adopted HISD Sexual Health Curriculum on Wednesday, April 24th at 5:30 PM in the JH Library!
As an education requirement, Hamilton ISD provides human sexuality and prevention of child abuse, family violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking instruction to all students in grades 6-8. Your 6th or 7th-grade student will be coming home with a letter and opt-in form for this instruction starting today. 8th grade students have already received this form earlier in the semester through their health class.
As a part of the state requirement, parents must opt-in to this instruction. Students who opt out of instruction will be given an alternate assignment during the lesson delivery window.
As a part of this instruction, Hamilton Junior High School will be hosting a Parent Preview Night on Wednesday, April 24th beginning at 5:30 PM in the Junior High Library. At this event, we will briefly describe the lessons of delivery and allow parents to preview any and all materials that will be presented to your students.
Hamilton ISD believes that sexuality education begins at home. Parents or legal guardians are the primary educators of their children and can be the most important influence in their child’s health decisions. We hope that we see you on Wednesday evening for the Parent Preview Night!
